Sales Orders by Item Summary Report
The Sales Orders by Item Summary report lists the approved sales order and return authorization amounts for each item during a specified date range. This report groups and totals items by item type.
With Narrative Insights, you can use generative AI to summarize the report, helping you identify which items and item categories generate the most revenue and revealing important trends in item sales.
The generated insights may include:

Highlights of the item categories with the highest and lowest sales

Top performing items by revenue, showing dollar amounts and units sold for each item

Top performing categories by revenue, with discussion on whether sales are concentrated in certain categories or spread across many

Insights into risks and exceptions related to item sales
To generate an insight on the Sales Orders by Item Summary report, the Enable Narrative Insights preference must be enabled in the Narrative Insights tab of the AI Preferences page. This preference is enabled by default. For more information, see Managing Narrative Insights Preferences.

To view the Sales Orders by Item Summary report:
Go to Reports > Sales Orders > Sales Orders by Item Summary.
A popup message appears to let you know your report is loading. The status bar in the footer of the report indicates the progress as your report loads. You can click Cancel Report next to the status bar to stop the report from loading.
This report does not support reporting by period even when the Report by Period preference is set to All Reports. You can configure the Report by Period preference. Go to Home > Set Preferences. The preference is on the Analytics subtab.
To generate an insight on the Sales Orders by Item Summary report:

Filter the report to include only the information you want the insight to reflect.

Click the Generate Insight button.
The Narrative Insights dialog is displayed. You can generate the insight again at any time by clicking the Generate Insight button.
Insights may differ each time they're generated, even when you're viewing the same data.
