Step 2 – Linking Your Bank Account for Funding Payments

After Submitting Details for the KYB or KYC Verification, you need to link the bank accounts used for funding your bill payments.

Note:

The process of linking the bank account for funding payments with the BILL account is processed using the BILL widget. When you connect to the BILL widget, you may be asked to complete multi-factor authentication (MFA). Follow the instructions displayed on the screen to complete MFA. See Generating MFA.

BILL uses Plaid, a third-party application for connecting with bank accounts, to Linking Your Bank Account Instantly through online banking and complete online verification. If your bank isn't listed for account linking using online banking or if you want to link your bank account manually, see Linking Your Bank Account Manually. If you choose to link your bank account manually, you need to get it verified through the Deposit Verification process before you can use it for processing payments.

The bank account details that are first verified are considered as the default bank account in BILL. The default bank account is the account that is selected primarily for processing payments. You can change the account to be used while processing each payment. To know more about processing payments, see Payment Processing.

You need to map a GL Bank Account in NetSuite for every bank account that you have linked in BILL. See Mapping GL Bank Accounts for more information.

After you link your bank accounts during the three-step sign up process, you can manage bank accounts using the BILL widget. See Managing Bank Accounts for more information.

Provide Your Bank with ACH ID Numbers

Before linking your bank accounts for payments, give your bank the required ACH ID numbers. To process BILL ACH debits successfully, provide all of BILL's ACH ID numbers to your bank.

Without the required ACH ID numbers, a bank account with a debit block or filter can cause BILL transactions to fail. Share the ACH ID numbers with your bank to keep payments running smoothly.

The following table lists BILL's current ACH ID numbers as of the date of this document. To view the updated list of ACH IDs, see Prevent failed funding with ACH IDs.

Linking Your Bank Account Manually

If your bank isn't listed for account linking using online banking or if you want to link your bank account manually, use this method. If you choose to link the account manually, you need to complete the deposit verification within 10 days. See Deposit Verification for more information.

If you have linked your bank account manually, you get a reminder complete the deposit verification in the Reminders portlet on the dashboard.

Important:

Only the person who manually linked a bank account can complete deposit verification for that account. No one else can complete the deposit verification for it.

To manually link your bank account to BILL,

  1. Select Manually connect account and click Next.

  2. On the Enter bank Details page, enter information in the following fields:

    • Account Holder's Name

    • Account Type

    • Routing Number

    • Bank Name

    • Account Number

    • Re-enter Account Number

  3. Click Add Account.

  5. BILL deposits a small amount less than one dollar to your bank account. You need to enter this amount to complete Deposit Verification and start making payments from the linked bank account.

Deposit Verification

After you submit the account details for manual linking, a small deposit is made by BILL to the account within one to two hours.

Important:

To allow BILL ACH debits to process successfully, provide your bank with all of BILL's ACH ID numbers. For an up to date list of BILL's ACH ID numbers, see Provide Your Bank with ACH ID Numbers.

You have 10 days from the time you link the bank account manually to complete the deposit verification. If deposit verification isn’t completed within 10 days, the bank account becomes inactive and you can’t use it to make payments.

You need to enter the exact amount deposited to your bank account when you verify the deposit. You have three attempts to enter the correct deposit amount. If you enter the amount deposited by BILL incorrectly three times, the bank account becomes inactive and you can’t use it for payments.

If your bank account becomes inactive because the verification window expired or you made three incorrect attempts, it cannot be used for payments.

If this was your only bank account from the three-step sign up, and you want to use the same bank, you can re-enter bank account details and verify it before initiating payments.

When you are adding another bank account, you can choose to Linking Your Bank Account Instantly or Linking Your Bank Account Manually. If you enter new bank account details manually, you must complete deposit verification before you can use it to make payments.

To verify the deposit for the bank account added manually,

  1. Go to Payment Automation > Dashboard > Overview.

  2. Click Verify Deposit for the bank account you added in the Bank Accounts portlet.

  3. In the Verify Deposit window, enter the exact amount deposited by BILL in the Amount field and click Verify.

    Important:

You have three attempts to enter the deposit amount. If you enter the amount deposited by BILL incorrectly three times, the bank account becomes inactive and you can’t use it for payments. See Viewing Inactive Bank Accounts.

  4. The bank account is now verified and you can make payments from this bank account. See Paying a Single Vendor Through BILL, Creating a Payment Run for more information.

  5. If you enter the deposit amount from BILL incorrectly three times, click Cancel to exit the window.
