Inventory Optimization Workflow

Use this workflow to set up and run Inventory Optimization:

  1. Enable the Advanced Inventory Management feature.

  2. Enable the Inventory Optimization feature.

  3. Assign the Inventory Optimization permission to the roles that use inventory optimization records and tasks.

  4. Set Inventory Optimization preferences.

  5. Review the default Inventory Optimization Segments and service levels.

  6. For eligible Reorder Point items, check the Include in Inventory Optimization box on the item record.

  7. Run Calculate Inventory Segmentation manually or by schedule. This process assigns segments and service levels to included Reorder Point items.

  8. After segmentation is current, run Calculate Inventory Levels to calculate Safety Stock Level, Reorder Point, and Preferred Stock Level.

  9. Review the calculated item-location planning values.

  10. Use Order Items, Mass Create Work Orders, or Replenish Location by Transfer Order to generate purchase orders, work orders, or transfer orders from calculated values.
