Including Items in Inventory Optimization
Use the Include in Inventory Optimization box to include eligible Reorder Point items in Inventory Optimization calculations.
This box is cleared by default. It is editable only when the item uses the Reorder Point replenishment method.
This setting applies to all locations for the item. New Reorder Point items remain excluded by default.
Saving the item does not assign a segment. NetSuite assigns segments when inventory segmentation runs.
To include an item in Inventory Optimization:

Open an inventory item or assembly item.

In the replenishment fields, verify that the replenishment method is Reorder Point.

Check Include in Inventory Optimization.

Click Save.
When you include an item in Inventory Optimization, NetSuite disables and clears the Safety Stock Level Days field for the item. Preferred Stock Level Days remains required.
For included items, the Auto-Calculate boxes for Purchase Lead Time, Reorder Point, and Preferred Stock Level are checked and read-only.
The Purchase Lead Time and Safety Stock Level are also blank and read-only on the item record. The corresponding item-location fields are displayed and read-only, regardless of the Use Lead Time and Safety Stock Per Location preference.
Inventory Optimization Fields on Item and Item Location Configuration Records
Inventory Optimization adds these fields to either the item or the item location configuration record:

If the Include in Inventory Optimization box is cleared, none of these fields are editable.
The availability and placement of these fields depend on the segmentation and item-inclusion preferences:

If the Calculate Inventory Segmentation per Location box is cleared, the fields appear under Purchasing/Inventory > Optimization section on the item record.

If the Calculate Inventory Segmentation per Location box is checked, the fields appear on the Planning subtab of each Item Location Configuration record.
When you check Include in Inventory Optimization, Inventory Optimization Segment and Service Level are initially blank. Override Service Level is cleared.
Inventory Optimization Segment is read-only. Service Level is editable only when Override Service Level is checked. Before segmentation runs, the segment and service level may remain blank. When Override Service Level is checked, enter a value from 50% through 99.99%.
Regardless of where these fields appear, NetSuite always calculates planning values at the item-location level.
