Setting Up Subsidiaries for Brazil

Brazil Localization adds fields to subsidiary records to enable you to enter Brazil-specific information for your company.
Before setting up a subsidiary for Brazil, ensure your role has the required permissions to edit subsidiary records.

Some Brazil-specific fields and subtabs don't appear until after you save the subsidiary record for the first time.
To set up a subsidiary for Brazil:

Go to Setup > Company > Classifications > Subsidiaries.

Click Edit next to the subsidiary you want.

Add the subsidiary's tax registrations.

In the Federal Tax Registration field, enter the subsidiary's federal tax registration number.

If the subsidiary is a company, enter the Cadastro Nacional de Pessoas Jurídicas (CNPJ) number. Use one of the following formats for the 14-digit number: 00000000000000 or 00.000.000/0000-00.

If the subsidiary is an individual, enter the Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas (CPF) number. Use one of the following formats for the 11-digit number: 00000000000 or 000.000.000-00.

If the subsidiary is subject to state taxes, in the State Tax Registration field, enter the subsidiary's state tax registration number.

If the subsidiary is subject to municipal taxes, in the Municipal Tax Registration field, enter the subsidiary's municipal tax registration number.

If the subsidiary does business in the Manaus Free Trade Zone, in the SUFRAMA Registration field, enter the number of its SUFRAMA registration.
SUFRAMA stands for Superintendência da Zona Franca de Manaus. Use one of the following formats for the 9-digit number: 000000000 or 00.0000.00-0.

If the subsidiary has a registration to be a tax substitute outside of its home state, add its tax substitute registration.

(Optional) In the Subsidiary Logo (Forms) field, select the logo image to use on all forms by this subsidiary.
Tip:Upload an image with up to 72 pixels of height and 259 pixels of width.

Brazil Reports - Includes the logo in the PDF version of accounting reports, auxiliary reports, financial statements, fiscal books, and tax assessments.

If you want NetSuite to populate the e-document category in transactions involving the subsidiary, in the Default E-Document Category field, select the e-document category.

Set the subsidiary's economic activity.

In the Primary CNAE Code field, select the Classificação Nacional de Atividades Econômicas (CNAE) code that identifies the subsidiary's main economic activity.
CNAE is a standardized register of economic activities maintained by Brazil's Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE).

In the Secondary CNAE Codes field, select one or more CNAE codes that identify the subsidiary's additional economic activities.

Define the default accounts to which to post amounts from transactions involving this subsidiary.

To calculate taxes with the SuiteTax Latam Engine, set the tax information.

If you have the Brazil Reports SuiteApp installed on your account and your company manufactures goods or is comparable to a manufacturer, set their classification as such.

Add the subsidiary's addresses.
You can enter the subsidiary's regular address and, if your company sells or purchases goods, you can enter the address for receiving shipments.

Click Save.
