Domain Options for Web Stores

The first step in setting up an online store is deciding the type of shopping and checkout domains to use. You need to decide if you want to use a single domain for both shopping and checkout or if you prefer to use separate shopping and checkout domains.

Depending on your decisions, the following combinations are available:

• Single secure domain for both shopping and checkout – You can run your shopping and checkout under a single HTTPS domain. A single domain provides your customers with a seamless buying experience. In NetSuite, this type of domain is called Single Domain for Web Store and Checkout.

  Note:

  If you are using SuiteCommerce MyAccount, the Domain Type associated with the SuiteCommerce MyAccount implementation should be set to Single Domain for Webstore and Checkout.

• Secure shopping domain combined with separate secure checkout domain – In NetSuite, a standalone shopping domain is called Web Store Only. You can use an SSL certificate to secure the shopping portion of your web store. You can choose between:

  • a single, secure shopping domain paired with a single, secure checkout domain

  • multiple secure shopping domains paired with a single, secure checkout domain

If you choose to have separate shopping and checkout domains, the following types of checkout domain are available:

• Custom checkout domain secured using an SSL certificate. In NetSuite, this type of domain is called Checkout Only.

• Unbranded secure subdomain provided by NetSuite (for example: securecheckout.com).

• Default secure checkout domain hosted by NetSuite (for example: 123456.secure.netsuite.com , where 123456 is your account ID).
