Domains
A domain is the physical location on a web server where your website lives. A domain name is the address of that physical location. If you think of a website as a store, the website is the building, the domain is the land it's built on, and the domain name is the official street address. Without a domain and a domain name, a website is like a building plan in an architect’s office — the owners know what it'll look like, but it doesn’t physically exist and customers can't visit it.
To make your website available to customers, do the following:
-
Buy a domain name from a provider
-
Set up a domain on a NetSuite server
-
Link the domain and domain name together
You can also use domains in NetSuite to:
-
Send bulk email through campaigns or email merges
-
Point to a web page in your NetSuite File Cabinet
-
Redirect to any URL you choose
-
Redirect to a promotional domain
