Adding a Trading Partner Category

Level 1 UNSPSC Super categories are delivered by default. These L1 categories enable mapping a reasonable number of categories (current count is 55) to the list of created NetSuite categories (non-inventory items). However, there are thousands of potential UNSPSC codes that can be utilized. If you want to include a more granular level of detail, you can map additional trading partner categories by importing them through the Category CSV Template.

For example, following is the Level 1 category included for office equipment and accessories and supplies (Amazon Business) in the category list:

There are an additional 220 Level 2 through Level 4 categories that you can use for office equipment and accessories and supplies (Amazon Business). The following table lists some of the categories.

In this example, the Level 1 Category 4400000 – Office Equipment and Accessories and Supplies will be used for all codes beginning with 44 below it. Therefore, the purchase of any item in any category beginning with 44 will use the Category Mapping configuration for the Level 1 Category, 4400000 – Office Equipment and Accessories and Supplies.

If you want to map any Level 2 through Level 4 UNSPSC category, such as 44101501 – Photocopiers to a different GL account than the Level 1, 4400000 – Office Equipment and Accessories and Supplies is mapped to, you may upload a list of these codes with the Category CSV Template.
