ARR and MRR Metrics Definitions

The ARR and MRR roll forward report includes the following metrics:

Formula

Beginning Balance

Total MRR amount at the start of the period. SaaS metric records making up the total balance for selected period.

MRR or ARR ending balance from the earlier period.

New

Total revenue from new business in the selected period.

You can select from the following options:

  • Monthly

  • Quarterly

  • Yearly

New MRR or ARR in the selected period.

Upsell

Total revenue from upsells in the selected period.

Upsell MRR or ARR from existing customers.

Downsell

Total revenue from downsells in the selected period.

Downsell MRR or ARR from existing customers.

Churn

Total revenue lost from cancelled contracts or subscriptions

Ending Balance

Total MRR lost from cancellations in the selected period.

Beginning Balance MRR or ARR + New Business + Upsell – Downsell – Churn

Net New

Total new additions for the selected period after subtracting losses or reductions.

(New MRR + Upsell MRR) – (Churn MRR + Downsell MRR)
