Autonomous Database on Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure in AWS region

Using Autonomous Database on Oracle Database@AWS, you can provision Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure and Autonomous VM Clusters within Amazon Web Service (AWS) that will host Multicloud deployments of Autonomous Database.

This simplifies the migration and deployment of enterprise workloads to the cloud while improving availability, scalability, performance, and security. Multicloud provides you with a unified experience between Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS, offering simplified database administration, billing, and unified customer support. You will be able to seamlessly and securely connect and analyze data in the Autonomous Database using applications that are running on AWS to get faster transactions and deeper insights. You get the most mission-critical Oracle Database capabilities in a fully managed service while leveraging a seamless integration with AWS services such as CloudWatch with the option to use Amazon Simple Storage (S3) to store your service automated database backups.

Prerequisites

You need to obtain the following before you create various Autonomous Database resources with Multicloud.

  • An AWS account
  • An OCI account
  • Required OCI IAM Permissions and AWS IAM Permissions.

See Prerequisites for Oracle Database@AWS for more details.

Before you begin provisioning Oracle Database@AWS resources, you need to check if your existing OCI limits will let you deploy the number of Oracle Database@AWS resources you need. Else, you need to request an increase in the service limits. See Service Limits for Oracle Database@AWS for more details.

Creating Autonomous Database Resources in AWS Region

Tip:

For a "try it out" alternative that demonstrates the tasks listed below, run the labs in the workshop Oracle Database@AWS- Autonomous Database on dedicated infrastructure.
With Autonomous Database on Oracle Database@AWS, you can perform the following tasks from the AWS console:
Once an EI and AVMC are provisioned using the AWS console, you can create the Autonomous Container Database (ACD) and Autonomous Database using the OCI console. You can provision these resources in one of the following two ways:
  • As an existing OCI customer with a Multicloud subscription, you can log in to the OCI console and browse the Multicloud resources (EI and AVMC) in the AWS-specific compartment. You can then create resources, such as ACD and Autonomous Database, using Exadata Infrastructure and an Autonomous VM Cluster provisioned in the AWS-specific compartment.
  • As a customer with a Multicloud subscription, you can navigate to the Oracle Database@AWS landing page and view the details of the VM cluster in the AWS region. You can also click Manage in OCI to redirect to the OCI console and view the AVMC resource details page. See Autonomous Database in the OCI Console for details.

See Create an Autonomous Container Database and Create an Autonomous Database on Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure for instructions to create ACD and Autonomous Database from the OCI console.

Managing Oracle Database@AWS Resources

You can manage EI and AVMC from both AWS and OCI consoles. However, you can manage ACD and Autonomous Database using the OCI console only.

Management Functions from the AWS Console

After provisioning an Autonomous Database on Oracle Database@AWS, you can use the AWS console for a limited set of management functions listed below.

Management Functions from the OCI Console

You can also manage Autonomous Database on Oracle Database@AWS resources (EI, AVMC, ACD, and Autonomous Database) from the OCI console.

You can navigate to the OCI console in either of the following two ways:
  • As an existing OCI customer with a Multicloud subscription, you can log in directly to the OCI console.
  • As a customer with a Multicloud subscription, you can navigate to the Autonomous Database on Oracle Database@AWS landing page and view the details of the VM cluster in the AWS region. Clicking Manage in OCI redirects you to the AVMC resource details page in the OCI console. See Autonomous Database in the OCI Console for details.
You can perform the following actions from the OCI console.
