Servicing PCIe Cards

This section describes how to service PCIe cards. PCIe cards are replaceable components that require you to power off the server for service. For more information about replaceable components, see Illustrated Parts Breakdown and Replaceable Components.

Caution

Caution  -  Customers must not use the procedures in this section to service the Oracle Storage 12 Gb SAS PCIe RAID HBA, Internal card that is installed in PCIe slot 4. This card must be serviced only by authorized Oracle Service personnel.

Caution

Caution  -  These procedures require that you handle components that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. This sensitivity can cause the components to fail. To avoid damage, ensure that you follow antistatic practices as described in Electrostatic Discharge Safety.

Caution

Caution  -  Ensure that all power is removed from the server before removing or installing PCIe cards. You must disconnect all power cables from the system before performing these procedures.

Caution

Caution  -  The Oracle Dual Port QDR InfiniBand Adapter M3 card and the Oracle Dual Port 100 Gb Ethernet Adapter that can be installed in PCIe slot 2 are not hot-pluggable. Therefore, you need to power off the server and disconnect the power cables from the system before you remove or install these cards.

Note -  For a complete list of supported PCIe cards, refer to the Oracle Server X8-2L Product Notes at https://www.oracle.com/goto/x8-2l/docs.
