Before You Begin
Before you can begin installing an operating system using PXE network boot, you
must ensure that the following requirements are met:
|
|
Solaris 11.3 (with SRU 23)
|
-
To use PXE to boot the installation media over the
network, ensure that the Automated Installation (AI)
image install server is set up and accessible to your
server over the network.
-
If your AI server requires the MAC address of an
install client, you can obtain your system's MAC address
by logging in to the Oracle ILOM SP as
root, and typing:
-> show /System host_primary_mac_address
/System
Properties:
host_primary_mac_address = 00:10:e0:c3:b6:f4
|
Oracle Linux
|
|
Oracle VM
|
-
To use PXE to boot the installation media over the
network:
-
Configure the network (NFS, TFTP, FTP, HTTP)
server to export the installation tree.
-
Configure the files on the TFTP server
necessary for PXE booting.
-
Configure the server MAC network port address
to boot from the PXE configuration.
-
Configure the Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol (DHCP).
-
If your server requires the MAC address of an install
client, you can obtain your system MAC address by
logging in to the Oracle ILOM SP as
root, and typing:
-> show System/ host_primary_mac_address
/System
Properties:
host_primary_mac_address = 00:10:e0:ba:be:54
|
Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2016
|
-
Configure the network (NFS, TFTP, HTTP) server to
export the installation tree.
-
Configure the files on the TFTP server that are
necessary for PXE booting.
-
Configure the server's MAC network port address to
boot from the PXE configuration.
-
Configure Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
(DHCP).
Note -
Configuring a DHCP server might not be necessary,
because only one DHCP server is needed in the local
network.
To use Windows Deployment Services (WDS) to perform the
installation, you must:
-
Add the required system device drivers to the
install.wim image and, if
necessary, the boot.wim
image.
For instructions for adding drivers to the Windows
Imaging Files Format (WIM) installation image(s), see
the Microsoft Windows Deployment Services
documentation.
-
Obtain the WIM Administrator password.
