Fulfilling Released Orders
You may pick, pack, and ship items out of your warehouse for the following reasons
-
To send items customers have ordered – You ship sales order items to a customer to complete a sale
-
To send items you want to transfer to other warehouse locations – You ship transfer order items to your company's various warehouse locations.
Fulfillment is based on orders that you add to sales order or transfer order transactions. Depending on your business process, when you submit or approve an order, NetSuite fully or partially commits items to that order. Then, you create item fulfillment records when you start picking committed items for an order. On these transactions and records, you can track the sale, transfer, and shipment of items out of your warehouse.
Using NetSuite WMS, you can include the committed items in wave transactions and release them to the warehouse. Released orders in a wave can be processed by pickers to begin fulfillment through the app. After committed quantities of items are picked, item fulfillments are created automatically through the NetSuite UI. Based on your fulfillment creation preference, NetSuite WMS generates item fulfillments per order, per order line, or per order in a wave. You can track picking and fulfillment generation through waves and pick tasks.
NetSuite WMS recognizes and lets you process only transactions that meet the following conditions:
-
All orders must be approved, whether automatically or manually.
-
Orders that appear on the app have a warehouse location that matches the one you select on the app. You can specify the warehouse location on the app to process orders from that location.
-
Sales orders and transfer orders must have the Pending Fulfillment or Partially Fulfilled/Pending Billing status.
To view additional conditions and limitations for orders that you can release through wave transactions, see Releasing Orders to the Warehouse.
