Generating Serial Numbers
When you map a serial format and enter values in the additional serial fields for a serial autonumbering enabled item, the system automatically generates a serial number. The generated serial number is then displayed in the Serial Number column of the Inventory Detail popup window.
To generate serial numbers:
-
Open a purchase order.
-
In the Items sublist, select an item that has Enable Lot/Serial Numbering checked. You can check this box in the Lot/Serial Numbering subtab of an item.
-
Click the Inventory Detail icon to open the Inventory Detail popup window.
Note:Let the popup window load completely to view the Lot/Serial Inventory Detail section.
-
In the Primary Information section, enter the required serial information, such as starting sequence number, country of origin, and manufactured date.
-
(Optional) If the Bin Management and Inventory Status options are enabled, these fields are shown in the Primary Information section. Select the Bin and Status for the item.
-
Click Generate.
The serial number automatically generates and displays in the Serial Number column of the Auto-Generated Serial Number sublist.
With the Generate option, you can save the autogenerated serial numbers data for the current instance.
-
The SuiteApp can generate a maximum of 700 serial numbers for an item in an instance.
-
The Auto-Generated Serial Numbers subtab displays a maximum of 10 serial numbers at a time. If your list of serial numbers exceeds this limit, you can use the pagination feature to go through additional rows.
When adding multiple rows for the same serial number, values in all other fields must be the same, except for the following:
-
Quantity
-
Bin (applies to item receipts, work orders, and assembly builds)
-
Status (applies to item receipts, work orders, and assembly builds)
The automatically generated serial number replaces a space character in a serial number format element with a hyphen.
When checking the Enable Lot/Serial Numbering box in the Lot/Serial Numbering subtab for an item, you must select Number Format. If you fail to do so, the SuiteApp displays an error.
In the L Lot/Serial Numbering subtab of an item, if the Enable Lot/Serial Numbering box is unchecked, the core Inventory Detail popup window is displayed.
The Date and Time field formats in this window are derived from the Set Preferences page. The Time of Day field follows the date and time format selected on the General Preferences page.
