The Waterfall Setup tab in the Rule Designer shows the full sequence of rule sets and rules for the selected model. The rule definition for each rule set and rule is shown. This makes it easy to see all of the settings for your rule sets and rules in one place. You can complete additional tasks by clicking next to a rule set or rule.

Tasks that you can complete on the Waterfall Setup tab:

• Click next to a rule set to:

  • Edit Rule Set: Create a rule set context to define member selections for dimensions that will use the same member for all rules in the rule set (see Creating a Rule Set Context)

  • Edit Row: Edit the rule definition for the selected rule set. If you change any information, click ; otherwise, click .

  • Add Rule: Add a rule to the rule set (see Creating an Allocation Rule Definition and Creating a Custom Rule Definition)

  • Duplicate: Duplicate the rule set (see Duplicating a Rule Set)

  • Delete: Delete the rule set

• Click next to a rule to:

  • Edit Rule: Enter detailed information about the rule

  • Edit Row: Edit the rule definition for the selected rule. If you change any information, click ; otherwise, click .

  • Duplicate Rule: Duplicate the rule. Enter a new rule name and the number of duplicates. The name for the duplicated rule must be unique. You cannot have two rules with the same name in a model.

  • Delete: Delete the rule

    Note:

    • When you delete a rule from the Waterfall Setup tab in the Rule Designer, the rule member assigned to that rule is not also deleted. You delete rule members on the Edit Member Properties page accessed from the Application, Dimensions tab.

    • Deleting a rule does not delete the associated rule member in Oracle Essbase.

• Click to add a rule set or rule (see Creating Rule Sets, Creating Allocation Rules, Creating Custom Rules)

• Click and select an option from the drop-down to:

  • Generate a Model Documentation Report (see Generating a Model Documentation Report)

  • Run a Rule Data Validation Report for Allocation Rules (Running a Rule Data Validation Report for Allocation Rules)

  • View Rule Data (see Using Ad Hoc to Analyze Allocation Rule Data)
