Update a value on a completed form

Go back and update a question on a form, such as when you discover a data-entry error. This procedure also applies to rollover studies.

Note:

If you enter data that doesn't meet the requirements specified by the sponsor in the form fields, a message explains why the answer does not meet the required criteria. If the question is marked as required, you can't randomize or dispense until it is answered. If the question isn't marked as required, you can randomize or dispense without answering.

For more information on how to handle reference information during the process of collecting data, as well as tips and tricks on how to answer certain question types, see Best practices for collecting data.

  1. On the Home page, determine where to work. For more information, see Access study modes and pages.
  2. Along the top, make sure Subjects is selected.
  3. Filter your view based on several criteria. For more information, see Filter subjects in a study.
  4. On the Next Visits column, click the visit you want to update.
  5. In the form, click the field the field that you want to update and make the required changes.
  6. Enter a reason for the change and click Submit.

For example, if you are rescreening a subject who has become eligible for the study since their initial screening visit, indicate that you are updating the value to rescreen the subject at a later date.

  7. Click Save at the bottom of the form to keep the form open, or click Save & Close to save your changes and return to the Subjects table.
  8. If you need to rescreen the subject because of the incorrect value, click Screen at the bottom of the form.
  9. In all other visits, click Dispense.

If you already dispensed a kit to the subject and are updating a value that doesn't affect dispensation, you don't need to click Dispense again unless you want to see which kit the subject received.

Depending on a form's status, you may see one of the following status icons on the Forms sidebar:
  • When complete, a form displays a Complete icon Complete form icon.
  • When a required question is not answered, a form displays an Incomplete icon Incomplete form icon.
  • When a required question contains a validation error, a form displays a Validation error icon Form contains error icon.
