Channel Sell Limits are used to set up booking limits for specific channels on a specific date to increase or decrease your available rooms. For example, you must enter a higher value than physical rooms to overbook rooms to compensate for expected cancellations and no-shows. You must enter a lower value than physical rooms (maximum zero) to under-book rooms, too, to prevent the sale of certain room types. Alternatively, you can use OPERA Cloud's preferred solution and set the channel sell limit to a percentage of available per room type.

The Property Availability task is required to set and delete channel sell limits.

1. From the OPERA Cloud main menu, select Inventory and then select Sellable Availability. By default, you can view your monthly overnight availability starting on your business date.

2. Select the Set Sell Limit in the tool bar to set a channel limit. The date and related fields are pre-filled when selecting the property, a channel, or room type cell, and then the Set Channel Sell Limit button.

3. Channel: Select one or multiple channels to set a limit for. You can create limits for channels with active provision status where channel type is not PMS. This field is required.

4. Room Type: Select one or multiple room types for which the channel sell limit is valid. This field is required.

5. Start Date / End Date: Select the date the sell limit is valid for. The sell limit is set per day. The start date is required. If you don´t enter an end date, by default, it is filled with the start date when setting the limit.

6. Occurrence: Select the days the sell limit is valid, for example, a sell limit is valid for a month but only for Saturday and Sunday. At least one day in the date range is required.

7. Sell Limit Type: Select the type to be used for calculating the limit. Either a sell limit type and value or a zero-sell limit type and value is required. This field is required.

8. Sell Limit Value: Enter the value.

9. Zero Sell Limit Type: Select the type to be used for calculating the limit.

10. Zero Sell Limit Value: Enter the value.

    Note:

    The sell limit is the limit for that channel and that room type. The zero-sell limit is when you set the inventory to zero.

    Example:

    • Sell Limit Type: % of availability = 80 %

    • Zero Sell Limit Type: Sold percentage = 95%

      With this setup, the system always sends 80% of availability, but if 95% is sold, the system sends zero.

11. Click Set.

 

Viewing Channel Sell Limits

1. From the OPERA Cloud main menu, select Inventory and then select Sellable Availability.

2. Enter search criteria and click Search.

3. Channel Sell Limits are indicated with a grey color under the room type total and channel row.

4. Hover over the availability slots to view details.

Editing Channel Sell Limits

1. From the OPERA Cloud main menu, select Inventory and then select Sellable Availability.

2. Enter search criteria and click Search.

3. Select the sell limit you want to edit, right click and then select Edit Channel Sell Limit.

   Note:

   You always set a new limit and not update an existing record unless you change the room type and date. For example, if you edit a sell limit and change the date, the sell limit for the original date remains the same, and a new sell limit is set for the updated date. This also applies when you enter a date range or add room types.

4. Click Set.

Deleting Channel Sell Limits

1. From the OPERA Cloud main menu, select Inventory and then select Sellable Availability.

2. Enter search criteria and click Search.

3. Select the sell limit you want to edit, right click and then select Delete Sell Limit.

   Note:

   You can add room type or enter a date range if you want to delete a channel sell limit for multiple days /multiple room types.

4. Click Delete.
