You can create and update metadata content in the Essbase outline in a variety of ways. You can use the outline editor in Essbase web interface, perform incremental builds using Cube Designer and application workbooks, build dimensions using rules, or build using the API.

• Create a new application and cube, and add dimensions and members, by importing an Excel-based application workbook.
