Migration of Legacy Records and Transactions to SuiteTax

Enabling SuiteTax changes most of the tax-related records across NetSuite. To understand the changes on NetSuite records when the SuiteTax feature is enabled and how existing tax information on legacy records are migrated to SuiteTax, read the following help topics:

Some tax codes and tax groups can have subsidiary restrictions on sales tax payable accounts. Certain subsidiary restrictions on a record can be incompatible with some tax types. For example, the tax code CA_CA has a tax type that contains a sales tax payable account. This tax code is also part of the CA tax group, which is inaccessible because SuiteTax is enabled. You must make sure you set the same subsidiaries on your related tax codes and tax groups in your account.

Note:

SuiteTax data is also accessible through SuiteAnalytics Connect.

Note that with the NetSuite.com data source, you can access tax-related information from both legacy tax and SuiteTax. With the netsuite2.com data source, you can access tax-related information from SuiteTax only. When the SuiteTax feature is enabled for an existing legacy tax customer, the legacy tax data is migrated to SuiteTax. Tax-related information from the migrated legacy tax data is then accessible in netsuite2.com.

However, the NetSuite.com data source is no longer being updated, and all users are encouraged to use the NetSuite2.com data source. For more information about this change, see Changing from NetSuite.com to NetSuite2.com.
