Contract Renewals in Advanced SaaS Metrics
Contract renewals in the Advanced SaaS Metrics SuiteApp can be done through direct field linkage or by letting the SuiteApp automatically link contracts.
-
Direct field linkage – This option directly links related contracts using a custom field. The renewal contract has a custom field that lets the SuiteApp know its original contract.
To use this option, in the Preferences page of the SuiteApp, you must check the Use Direct Field Linkage box and map the Original Contract Link field name mapping to the custom field on the contract.
Note:A renewal contract can be linked to one or more original contracts.
For example: Two original contracts with the same customer and the same end dates can be renewed and combined into one renewal contract.
-
Automatic contract linking – If you do not use direct field linkage, the SuiteApp automatically predicts which contracts are related to each other based on the start and end dates, customer, item, and other relevant information.
For example, Contract XYZ for Customer J with Item J that has a start date of June 1, 2023 and an end date of December 31, 2023. The SuiteApp then searches for the original contract by looking for contracts that have the same Customer and Item with an end date of May 31, 2023. Let's say the original contract is Contract ABC. The SuiteApp then marks Contract XYZ as a renewal of Contract ABC.
Note:The SuiteApp only links one renewal contract per original contract. For example, if there is one original contract and two renewal contracts, the first one will be treated as the renewal of the original contract and the second renewal is treated as a new contract.
