Reporting Consumption

Operators need to report the quantity of components used (consumed) during production. The Select Component screen lists the Bill of Materials (BOM) inventory item components.

In operation step reporting, you cannot use a scanner to report labor hours, machine time, and set up time. You cannot use a scanner to report non-inventory and charge items. They are backflushed at a standard proportional to build or completed quantity.

To report consumption:

  1. Scan or enter a Component.

  2. Tap Enter Component.

The same component can be used in the BOM in different lines.

    • Reported Quantity is recorded in consumption units of measure.

    • If the component is lot enabled, the Select Lot page opens. Report lot details and the quantity consumed against each lot on this page.

    • NetSuite enables you to can Scan/Enter UPC Codes.

The UPC Code column displays Assembly and Component Items UPC codes. Only GS1 -128 barcodes are supported to capture the item name.

  3. If this item is lot enabled, in the Enter Lot screen, tap the Lot you want to consume.

Manufacturing Mobile only lists staged lots. If the component is not bin enabled, it lists the lots available in your location.

You can scan or enter a lot that is not shown in the list.

  4. Tap Enter Lot.

  5. Scan or enter the Quantity of components consumed.

  6. Tap Add.

  7. Scan or enter the component serial numbers.

  8. Tap Add.

  9. After you enter all the serial numbers, tap the Forward button icon.

Issue From Any Bin

You can report consumption of components in Manufacturing Mobile from any bin so that operators can execute work orders for components that are in all the bins.

You can also report component consumption in Manufacturing Mobile from any configured preferred bin for a location, so ordering consumption can be done quickly without selecting a bin.

Most work order components are staged in a bin associated with a work center before the execution of the work order. The components are then then consumed from that bin. Sometimes, in smaller operations or non-production line environments, operators may consume the components directly from a warehouse bin in the location. They pick them as they need them. Some manufacturing operation components can be directly fed into a work center. For example, liquid sugar or water. These components are consumed directly from the bin they are stored in instead of taking them from a staging bin.

To issue components from any bin, you first set the preference and then set up item records to use the preference.

To set the issue components from any bin preference:

  1. Click Manufacturing Mobile > Preferences > Preferences > Manufacturing Mobile – Preferences.

  2. Check the Issue From any Bin box.

On the item record, configure the preferred bin and whether the location should display all bins while executing the work order.

To set up item records to issue components from any bin:

  1. Click Edit beside the item containing the component you want to issue.

  2. Click Edit beside the Related Record you want to issue.

  3. Click the Manufacturing Mobile subtab.

  4. Select the Location where you want to display the bins.

  5. If Issue from any bin is selected, the Enter Bin window opens when you click the consumption icon.

  6. On the Purchasing/Inventory subtab, click Bin Numbers.

  7. Select the bin you want to use.

If the MM preferred bin is selected, when you click the consumption icon, the component is automatically selected.

Note:

Because the Manufacturing Mobile SuiteApp takes a snapshot of the Item record Inventory Detail tab, lot numbers that have been committed to other transactions may still appear as available. If consumption is reported for this item, NetSuite will allow the consumption, but the system will show a failed transaction.

For more information about viewing the updated transaction, see Mfg Mobile – Work Transaction Details.
