Automatic Tax Records Provisioning for the United States

By selecting the SuiteTax Engine as the tax engine for your subsidiary with a US nexus, the NetSuite creates the following tax records to generate tax codes:

Note:

Do not delete or inactivate system generated tax accounts, as they will be created again during the monthly update. You can either rename the accounts according to your needs or create a new account and assign it to your related tax types.

For OneWorld accounts, the tax record provisioning is executed automatically after you assign SuiteTax to the subsidiary's registration. For single instance accounts, you must manually execute the provisioning.

To execute tax record provisioning manually for single instance edition accounts:

  1. Go to Setup > SuiteTax Engine > Tax Engine Data Provisioning.

  2. Check the box of the nexus which you want to create tax codes.

  3. Click Run Data Provisioning.

Note:

To view the full list of countries supported by NetSuite for monthly tax rates updates, see Countries Supported for Tax Rate Updates in the SuiteTax Engine

Customizing Tax Codes View to Filter Based on State

When searching for a tax code, you can sort the existing tax codes by a particular U.S. state. To customize your search to reflect this, you need to customize your tax codes view.

To customize your tax codes view to filter based on state:

  1. Go to Setup > Tax > Tax Codes.

  2. In the top right corner, select Customize View.

  3. Select the Available Filters subtab.

  4. In the Filter column, select STE Tax State (Custom) and click Add.

  5. Click Save.

  6. You can now see the STE Tax State field in the Filters menu. To filter by state, you need to enter a two-letter state abbreviation in the field. For example, "AL" for "Alabama".

    Note:

To make the STE Tax State field active, you first need to click outside of the field.

  7. Click Edit View in the top right corner to edit your custom view.
