Project Discussions

Note:

The project discussions functionality and utility button is available if the following conditions are all met:

  • You are not signed in as a proxy user or as a guest user.

  • The Project Discussions feature is enabled for your company's SuiteProjects Pro account. Account administrators can enable the feature in Administration > Application Settings > Projects > Other settings. See Other Settings.

The Project Discussions feature is a collaboration tool that lets you share information, take part in a conversation about projects, and keep track of messages that need attention from anywhere within SuiteProjects Pro. A project discussion is a collection of messages about a specific project. There can be one project discussion for each project. All messages about a specific project are organized in the project discussion for this project and stored securely in SuiteProjects Pro.

If the Project Discussions feature is enabled in your company's SuiteProjects Pro account, you can click the project discussions utility button Project discussion button from any page in SuiteProjects Pro to open the project discussions drawer. The project discussions drawer shows:

The Project Discussions feature lets you:

Starting or Viewing a Project Discussion about a Specific Project

You can start or view a project discussion about any project that you have access to.

After you or someone else starts a project discussion, you can go to that project discussion from the project discussions list. See Viewing the Project Discussions List or a Project Discussion Already started.

To start or view a project discussion:

  1. Go to Projects > Projects and select the project for which you want to start or view a project discussion.

  2. Click the project discussions utility button project discussions utility button.

    The Project discussions drawer appears and shows the project discussion about the project you are viewing, if already started. The drawer prompts you to start the conversation if the project discussion is empty (not started).

  3. To start or contribute to a project discussion, post a message. See Posting a Message in a Project Discussion.

  4. Click outside the drawer to close it.

Viewing the Project Discussions List or a Project Discussion Already started

You can view the list of project discussions that you or others have already started from any page in SuiteProjects Pro. You can then use the list to go to any of the listed project discussions.

To view the project discussions list or a project discussion already started:

  1. From any page, click the project discussions utility button project discussions utility button.

    The Project discussions drawer appears and shows the list of project discussions already started, if you are not on a project page, or the project discussion about the project you are viewing, if you are on a project page.

  2. (Optional) Enter a phrase in the search box. The project discussions list is filtered as you type and shows the project discussions matching your search phrase.

    Note:

    The project discussions list shows up to 100 project discussions. If you have access to more than 100 project discussions, the list matching project discussions within these initial set of 100 project discussions. Enter at least three characters and press Enter to search all project discussions.

  3. From the project discussions list, click any project discussion in the list to go to that project discussion.

  4. From a project discussion, click the back icon Back icon to go to the project discussions list.

  5. Click outside the drawer to close it.

Posting a Message in a Project Discussion

You can post a message in any project discussion you have access to, whether it is empty or already started.

To post a message in a project discussion:

  1. Go to a project discussion.

  2. Enter a message in the Post new message box.

  3. Click Post.

    Your message appears in the project discussion.

Editing a Message in a Project Discussion

You can edit a message that you previously posted in a project discussion.

Note:

SuiteProjects Pro keeps an audit trail of changes to project discussions.

To edit a message:

  1. Go to a project discussion.

  2. Locate the message you want to edit.

  3. Click the more options icon more options icon next to the message and select Edit.

    Your message appears in a text box.

  4. Edit the text as required.

  5. Click Save to save your changes.

Deleting a Message in a Project Discussion

You can delete a message that you previously posted in a project discussion. Account administrators can delete any message posted by any user.

Note:

SuiteProjects Pro keeps an audit trail of changes to project discussions.

To delete a message:

  1. Go to a project discussion.

  2. Locate the message you want to delete.

  3. Click the more options icon more options icon next to the message and select Delete.

    Your message is removed from the project discussion.
