Add an Oracle Integration Instance to an Environment

Before you can use Oracle Integration build steps in a build job, you need to add Oracle Integration instances to your VB Studio Environment definition.

See Move Oracle Integration Projects, Artifacts, Packages, and Lookups Between Instances to learn about using Integration build steps to move integrations, packages, and lookups between instances.
To add an Integration instance to an environment:
  1. In the left navigator, click Environments Environments.
  2. Select an existing environment to add an Integration instance to, or create a new one.
  3. In the Service Instances tab, click + Add Instance.
  4. In the Add Service Instance dialog, locate and add your Integration instance.

Most of the time, you'll simply select an instance shown in the Instance List. The instance list shows resources in a selected compartment that are connected to an OCI account and authorized for use by VB Studio. Additionally, they can be from the same identity domain as your VB Studio instance or a different one.

If you don't see any instances even after selecting the correct region and compartment, make sure VB Studio has the authorization required to access these instances. See Authorize VB Studio to Access Visual Builder and Integration Instances.

    Note:

If you have existing environments with IDCS resources, you can continue to use these environments, but if you're creating a new environment, only the Integration instances that are linked to your OCI account will be available to add to the environment.

To select an Integration instance connected to an OCI account:

    1. Make sure Instance Type is set to Visual Builder and Oracle Integration and Add Instance Using is set to Instance List. This is the preferred approach.
    2. Click Change OCI Details next to OCI Details, select the region and compartment where your Integration instance is, and click Update.
    3. Select your Integration instance from the instance list.

If you don't see the instance you want to add (because it's connected to a different OCI account), select Oracle Integration Credentials under Add Instance Using. Note that you cannot use this option to add an Oracle Integration 3 instance.

In Base URL, enter the Integration instance's URL; in Instance Name, enter the display name that will be used for the service instance within the environment; then, enter the credentials of a user who can access the Integration instance in Username and Password.

  5. Click Add.

When your Integration instance uses a different identity domain than your VB Studio instance, OAuth tokens (via three-legged OAuth flows) are used to secure programmatic access to the target instance. Before any OAuth tokens can be created, you must provide authorization to acquire OAuth tokens. Click Authorize when prompted, then sign in with credentials to connect and deploy to the instance.

The Service Instances tab now displays the Integration instance you just added:
Description of oic-instance-details-card.png follows
Description of the illustration oic-instance-details-card.png

If the OAuth token used to authorize the connection expires during extended periods of inactivity (say, when you're away on vacation), click Actions Three horizontal dots and select Renew OAuth Access to renew the token.

In addition, the Recent Activities feed on the Project Home page lists the Integration instance and the environment you added it to.
