The following topics introduce the new and changed features of the Upgrade Assistant and other significant changes that are described in this guide, and provides pointers to additional information.
Upgrade Assistant 12c (12.2.1) includes the following new and changed administrative features:
The Upgrade Assistant can be run in readiness check mode to perform a read-only, pre-upgrade scan of your deployed schemas, component configurations and other domain artifacts. A detailed report is generated to help address any upgrade issues.
The Upgrade Assistant can identify all schemas used by a domain and upgrade all supported schemas in a single run of the Upgrade Assistant.
Schemas are upgraded and readiness checked in parallel. Running schema upgrades in parallel is a performance optimization that in some cases may reduce the overall length of the upgrade process.
A number of new features were introduced in Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c. For a detailed list of these features, see Understanding Oracle Fusion Middleware.
This guide was created as a tool reference for using the Upgrade Assistant. See the following for detailed procedural information for upgrading your component(s):
For component-specific upgrade procedures, see the component or suite upgrade topics in the Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c (12.2.1) documentation library.
