Mark a subject as complete

Mark a subject as complete after the subject has concluded all visits, all data has been entered for the subject, or has been screen failed.

Until a subject's visits are complete, you can only withdraw a subject from the study. A subject's progress through a study can be considered complete in the following instances:
  • They completed all of the required visits in a study.
  • They completed all visits until the earliest visit to complete, as specified by a study designer.

After a subject is marked as complete, you can't save any visits that weren't started, or take any other action on a subject, such as screening, randomizing, withdrawing, dispensing, or skipping a visit. You can still save or modify their associated forms.

  1. On the Home page, determine where to work. For more information, see Access study modes and pages.
  2. Along the top, make sure Subjects is selected.
  3. Filter your view based on your desired criteria. For more information, see Filter subjects in a study.
  4. In the table, locate the subject you want to mark as complete. For a subject to be eligible for completing a study, they should be displayed as Active Active and ready for study completion.
This specific icon indicates that a subject is active in the study and that they've also completed the minimum required visits in the study. They are eligible to complete the study.
  5. Select the checkbox to the left of the subject.
  6. From the Manage Subjects drop-down, select Complete.
  7. On the Complete Subject dialog, verify or update the date specified in the Date of Completion field.
  8. Select the required checkbox to confirm that you want to complete the study for this subject.
  9. Select Complete Subject.
If the study contains a Study Completion Visit, the visit is opened. The Study Completion Visit is also displayed on the Next Visits column.
  10. If needed in your study, complete the forms for the subject's Study Completion Visit, and select Save or Save & Close.
A subject that completed all the visits in their study is displayed on the Subjects page as Complete
