Basic Troubleshooting

The following table contains descriptions and solutions for common problems encountered with the Oracle MICROS Tablet 700 Series.

Tablet will not power up.

Battery is fully discharged.

Battery is in a state of failure.

Tablet is in a state of failure.

Charge the battery.

Replace battery with a fully charged and operational battery.

If this does not work, order a replacement tablet.

The back of the tablet gets warm when charging.

Applications running while charging.

Tablet not in sleep mode while charging.

Ensure the power settings allow the tablet to sleep while charging. This prevents warm casework and reduces the time required to fully charge the battery.

Battery will not charge.

Battery failure.

Order a replacement battery.

Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR) stops working after tablet wakes up from sleep mode. The tablet displays the message Magnetic stripe data not found.

Microsoft Windows Power & sleep options were changed to allow the OS to turn off the tablet hard disk after a period of inactivity.

Set Microsoft Windows Power & sleep options to prevent the tablet from going to sleep.

  1. Tap Windows Start, and then type power options in the Search field using the Windows on-screen keyboard.

  2. Tap Change plan settings for the active power plan (Balanced, Power saver, or MICROS).

  3. Tap Change advanced power settings.

  4. On the Power Options dialog, verify the Hard disk | Turn off hard disk after | On battery (Minutes) option is set to zero and Plugged in: is set to Never.
