Creating a Communication Rendition Configuration

Introduction

The Communication Rendition assembles the required Communication Packages to help you generate communication output in PDF, HTML, and JSON formats. A Communication Rendition may contain many Communication Rendition Versions. The Rendition Types supported by Communication Rendition Version provide you the flexibility to generate specific output types for the associated Communication Package with its Document, Layout, Content, and Style. Based on the parameters provided in the request from the consuming service or application, the Communication Rendition output can be passed to Communication Distribution Direct for distribution.

Prerequisites

Following are the prerequisites to consider before creating a Communication Rendition configuration in Communication Cloud Service:

Note:

Ensure that you complete the prerequisites before proceeding.
Prerequisites Details
Set the Config ID Config ID must be Active.

Ensure that all dependent configurations and associations are part of the same open Config ID.

Configure Entitlements Ensure that you have the required entitlements to create a Communication Rendition.
Create Marketing Company configuration Ensure that you have created the Marketing Company configuration that needs to be associated to the Communication Rendition configuration. See Creating Marketing Company for more details.
Create Communication Package configuration Ensure that you have created Communication Packages that need to be associated to the Communication Rendition Version configuration. See Creating a Package for more details.

Steps involved in creating a Communication Rendition

Creating a Communication Rendition Configuration and Associating Brand Marketing Company

To create a Communication Rendition configuration, follow these steps:
  1. Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
  2. From Menu, select Communication.
  3. Under Communication, select Distribution and then select Communication Rendition.
  4. On the Communication Rendition landing page, select Create.
  5. In Basic Information section, enter the Name, Long Name and Description (optional), to identify the Communication Rendition. 
  6. In Brand section, select Add Marketing Company and then select the Marketing Company that you want to associate to the Communication Rendition. 

    Note:

    You can associate only one Marketing Company per Communication Rendition configuration.
  7. In Status section, Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Rendition is created. You can modify it to a future date, if required. 
  8. Select Continue to create Communication Rendition Version.

Creating a Version

Versions allow the creation of multiple iterations of a Communication Rendition. The Active Date helps to control when each version of the Communication Rendition becomes effective. While a Communication Rendition can have several versions, at least one version must be created for a Communication Rendition configuration to be saved.

To create a Communication Rendition Version, follow these steps:

  1. In Basic Information section, enter the Name and Description (optional), to identify the Communication Rendition Version.
  2. In Status section, Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Rendition Version is created. You can modify it to a future date.
  3. Select Save to save the information, or Save & Exit to save and return to the landing page.

Associating Packages

After saving the Communication Rendition Version details, you need to associate the Packages under PDF Rendition, HTML Rendition, and JSON Rendition to get respective output format.

Note:

You can use a single Package and add it to multiple Rendition type to generate different multiple outputs of the same Package.

To add Communication Rendition Version Association, follow these steps:

  1. In Update Communication Rendition Version page, under Associations, select Add next to PDF Rendition, HTML Rendition, and JSON Rendition.

    Note:

    Communication Package must have at least one Rendition Type. Association to the PDF Rendition is mandatory, while association to the HTML and JSON Renditions is optional.
  2. Select the Packages that you want to associate to generate respective outputs.
  3. Select Save to save the information, or Save & Exit to save and return to the landing page.

Maintaining a Communication Rendition Configuration

Introduction

You can update or delete Communication Rendition configuration to cater to the changing business needs.  When you replace or add new associations, ensure that those configurations belong to the same Config ID that you used to create the Communication Rendition configuration. If the initial Config ID used for creating a Communication Rendition Configuration is closed, and if you want to edit the Communication Rendition configuration, see Editing a Configuration after Closing the Config ID.

Editing a Communication Rendition Configuration

You can edit the basic information and Active Date of a Communication Rendition configuration. You can also replace the Marketing Company.

Perform the following steps:
  1. Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application. 
  2. From Menu, select Communication. 
  3. Under Communication, select Distribution and then select Communication Rendition. This redirects you to the Communication Rendition landing page. 
  4. To edit the Communication Rendition configuration, follow either one of these options from the Communication Rendition landing page: 
    1. From More Menu in Action column of the respective Communication Rendition configuration, select Edit. 
    2. From the Name column, select the required Communication Rendition configuration to view its Summary page. Then from the Summary page, select Edit. 

      This redirects you to the Update Communication Rendition page.

  5. On Update Communication Rendition page, modify the information and update and Active Date, if required. 
  6. To replace Marketing Company, under Brand (Marketing Company) section, from More Menu in Action column, select Replace. Select a different Marketing Company belonging to the same Config ID.

Editing a Communication Rendition Version

You can modify the Version of the Communication Rendition configuration. You can duplicate the existing version to create another one.

Perform the following steps: 
  1. From the left pane of Update Communication Rendition page, navigate to the Version and modify the basic information and Active Date, if required.
  2. To remove the Associations, select Expand All under Associations section. Select the More Menu under Action column of the respective associations and then select Remove.
  3. Select Duplicate to Create New Version from Actions on the top right corner, to duplicate the existing version under the same Communication Rendition configuration. You need to provide the required information and Active Date of the new version. The Description and Associations for the new Version will be duplicated from the previous Version.

Deleting Communication Rendition Version

To delete the Communication Rendition Version, it must not be associated to any other configurations. If the Communication Rendition configuration has only one version and if you delete that version, then the corresponding Communication Rendition configuration also gets deleted.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
  2. From Menu, select Communication and then select Distribution.
  3. Under Distribution, select Communication Rendition. This redirects you to the Communication Rendition landing page.
  4. Follow either one of these options from the Communication Rendition landing page:
    1. From More Menu in Action column of the respective Communication Rendition configuration, select Edit.
    2. Select the Name of the respective Communication Rendition configuration. This redirects you to the Summary page of the configuration. Select Edit.
  5. From the left pane, navigate to the Version you want to delete.
  6. If there are any associations, remove the association.
    1. Under Associations section, select Expand All.
    2. Under Action column, select Remove corresponding to the association.
    3. Repeat the step to remove all the associations before deleting the Version.
  7. On Update Communication Rendition Version page, from Actions from the top right corner, select Delete. 
  8. In the dialog box, select Delete to confirm. 

Deleting a Communication Rendition configuration

You can delete a Communication Rendition configuration if it is no longer required. It must not be associated to any other configuration and all its Version configurations (except one) should have been deleted. Before deleting the configuration, you must ensure that the initial Config ID used for the configuration creation is open.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application. 
  2. From Menu, select Communication and then select Distribution.
  3. Under Distribution, select Communication Rendition. This redirects you to the Communication Rendition landing page.
  4. To delete the Communication Rendition configuration, follow either one of these options from the Communication Rendition landing page:
    1. From More Menu in Action column of the respective Communication Rendition configuration, select Delete. In the dialog box, select Delete to confirm. 
    2. From More Menu in Action column of the respective Communication Rendition configuration, select Edit. This redirects you to the Update Communication Rendition page. From Actions on the top right corner, select Delete. In the dialog box, select Delete to confirm.
