About Configurations and Configuration Blocks

A configuration is the complete set of settings used by an edge node.

To make those settings easier to work with, Oracle ECP groups them into configuration blocks in the configuration editor. This block-based model helps you work through a large configuration in smaller, related sections while still managing the configuration as one versioned unit.

Oracle ECP also distinguishes between reusable settings and single-edge-only settings. Reusable settings can be applied through a template to multiple compatible edge nodes. Single-edge-only settings apply to one edge node.

For example, some settings are available only in single-edge configuration. These settings can include a Wi-Fi SSID and password, SIM APN values, and MAC blocklist entries. Template-based configuration focuses on the reusable settings that you want to standardize across edge nodes.
