Before performing an online BBU (battery backup unit) replacement on an Oracle Exadata Database Machine database server or storage server, the Oracle Exadata Database Machine administrator must run the ALTER CELL BBU DROP FOR REPLACEMENT command, and confirm the success of the command. The command changes the controller to write-through caching and ensures that no data loss can occur when the BBU is replaced in case of a power loss.
