Closing Line Items on Sales Orders

You can manually close line items on sales orders when you don't plan to fulfill them.

For example, let's say you sell ten widgets to a customer and have already fulfilled five of them. Then, you discontinue the item and can't fulfill the remaining five. If you close the line manually, you'll keep a record of the original order quantity.

To manually close a line item on a sales order:

  1. Go to Opportunities > Transactions > Sales Orders.

  2. Click Edit next to the sales order with the line you want to close.

  3. On the Items subtab of the sales order, click the line you want to close.

  4. Check the box in the Closed column, and click Done.

  5. Click Save.

Note:

If you're closing a partially fulfilled line item, bill the sales order first. When all line items are fulfilled or closed, the sales order is removed from the billing and receiving queues.
