Adding a Merchandising Zone

In Site Management Tools (SMT), you can place merchandising zone content on a page by dragging it from the side panel and dropping it in a pre-defined area on the page. The scope of the area where you place the merchandising zone determines when it is displayed.

Note:

There are two merchandising zones you can choose from, the legacy merchandising zone (CMS MerchZone) and the enhanced merchandising zone (CMS MerchZone2). Both merchandising zones are similar, however the enhanced merchandising zone includes a configurable display, support for multiple languages, and it is compatible with SuiteCommerce themes.

If you use Commerce themes, the enhanced merchandising zone inherits all styles from the theme. However, if required, you can make changes using the Theme Skin Manager. For more information, see Theme Skin Manager.

To add a merchandising zone:

  1. Log in to Site Management Tools. For details, see Log In.

  2. Go to the page that you want to add the merchandising zone to.

  3. In Edit Mode, click Add from the Site Management toolbar.

  4. Select and drag CMS MerchZone or CMS MerchZone2 content type to the page. The CMS MerchZone Settings appear in the side panel.

  5. The settings panel appears in the side panel. To fill out the fields, use the following table for reference.

    Name

    Enter a name for the merchandising zone. This name is used as an internal identifier and is not displayed anywhere on the website.

    Visibility

    Select Always Visible to make the merchandising zone always visible or select Visible on Specific Dates to choose specific dates on which to have the merchandising zone visible. Leave the end date blank to make the merchandising zone visible indefinitely.

    Section Heading

    Enter the text to display in the top-left corner of the merchandising zone.

    Merchandising Rule

    Select the merchandising rule from the list. The list displays all merchandising rules defined in your NetSuite account. The content for merchandising zones is generated from interactive elements that display dynamic groups of items based on search rules. For more information, see Creating a Merchandising Rule.

    Advanced Options

    The Exclude item's in shopper's cart and Exclude item shopper is viewing boxes only report the settings fro the merchandising rule in NetSuite. You cannot changes these setting here.

    Display Mode

    Select how to display items in the enhanced merchandising zone. Choose from Grid, Horizontal Slider, and Vertical Slider.

    Number of Items Per Row

    Enter the number of items to display per row when displaying items in grid mode, or how many items are shown at one time when displaying items in slider mode. Images are scaled proportionately based on the number of items selected.

    Tags

    You can give the merchandising zone one or more content tags. Ensure each tag is separated by a comma. For more information, see Content Tags and Filter Tools.

  6. Click Save.

  7. When you are ready, publish your changes. For details, see Review and Publish Your Site.
