Enhanced Transaction Saving Notifications
The Enhanced Transaction Saving Notifications feature ensures reporting and auditing compliance when creating or editing a transaction.
When you edit an existing transaction, SuiteTax may determine that a different tax engine is needed. For more information, see Transactions in SuiteTax
For example, when you change the Ship To address in an existing transaction, NetSuite may determine it needs a new nexus. When you click the Preview Tax or Save buttons, the new tax registration is compared to the original one. If the new tax registration is assigned to a different tax engine, NetSuite checks that the new tax engine complies with reporting and auditing. NetSuite notifies the original tax engine, which either allows the change or blocks it. A blocking error occurs if the transaction has already been reported and cannot be edited. You must click Cancel and exit the transaction.
If the previous tax engine processed any transactions in the past, NetSuite recommends not changing the tax engine provider. Other potential steps include:
-
Set 'Valid Until' on the current tax registration to the current date or a selected future date.
-
Delete any existing future transactions (you can also first export them) to set the 'Valid Until' date.
-
Set a new tax engine on the tax registration. Do not overlap the 'Effective From' date.
-
Edit all future transactions to assign the correct tax engine to them.
