CMS Page Record

The CMS page record lets you access the NetSuite records for Site Management Tools (SMT) landing and enhanced pages. This includes landing and enhanced pages for both SMT versions 2 and 3. These records include landing and enhanced pages that were created directly in SMT and those created with the CMS Page record. The CMS Page record lets you Delete a CMS Page Record.

The CMS Page record only gives you access to the page itself, not the SMT content on that page. The page attributes you can set for a landing or enhanced page are the same as those you set in SMT. They include the following:

Name

The page name is an internal ID. It isn't displayed to website visitors, but it does identify the page in NetSuite and in SMT.

Site

Sets the site for this page.

Type

Specifies if this record is for a landing page or an enhanced page.

  • 1 =landing page

  • 2 =enhanced page

Addition to Head

This field lets you add extra information, like JavaScript or CSS, to the <head> area of the page.

URL

This is the relative path for accessing the page. The URL must only contain the relative path with no slashes or spaces.

Template

Sets the template for the page.

Page Title

The page title populates the HTML title element. For SEO, make sure it’s descriptive and uses target keywords to help your page rank higher. Search engines often show this title in results and link it to your page, so follow SEO best practices.

Page Heading

Sets the heading for the page. If the page template file supports it, this heading is displayed on the page.

Meta Description

The Meta Description populates the HTML meta description element. The description is important for SEO and often appears in search results as the page description. Write a clear, accurate description with your target keywords to help your ranking, and follow SEO best practices.

Meta Keywords

The Meta Keywords populate the HTML meta keywords element for the page. Follow SEO best practices because using the wrong keywords can hurt your ranking.

Start Date

When the content starts displaying.

End Date

When the content stops displaying. This is the date and time when the content expires.

If this field is empty, the content never expires.

Delete a CMS Page Record

After you delete a CMS Page record, the page is removed and can’t be visited by customers or edited in SMT. Consider the SEO impact before removing a page. If search engines have already indexed the page, set up a 301 redirect so they know it had been removed and where to find the new page. This helps protect your search ranking. The 301 redirect also makes sure visitors get sent to another page instead of seeing a 404 error. For more information, see Setting Up a URL Redirect.

If you delete a page that hasn’t been published yet, the record is removed and it disappears from the unpublished changes list in SMT. Since the page isn’t published, there are no SEO considerations when you delete it.

To delete a CMS Page record:

  1. Go to Commerce > Content Management > Content > CMS Pages.

  2. Click Edit next to the page link.

  3. Point to the Actions menu and select Delete from the dropdown list.

  4. When you’re asked to confirm, click OK.

Landing Pages and Sitemap Generator

When using a new NetSuite account, there are two circumstances where new landing pages may not be included in the site map:

  • You create CMS Landing Page records in NetSuite instead of with SMT

  • You use the CSV import to create CMS Landing Page records

To ensure Landing Pages are included in the sitemap, you must log in to Site Management Tools. Logging in to SMT creates the necessary version records for the system to create the sitemap. You don’t need to do anything else while you’re logged in to SMT.

To avoid any issues, it’s best to use SMT to manage CMS content, CMS Landing Pages, and Commerce Categories.
