Multi-Language Support for FSM
You can use the Multi-Language feature with Field Service Management (FSM). FSM currently supports user locales across the scheduler, mobile, and NetSuite UI. Dates, times, and number formats in FSM follow the user's browser locale setting. If the Multi-Language feature is disabled, FSM is only available in the English language and follows U.S. localization of dates, times, and numbers.
Limitations of Using Multi-Language in FSM
Language translations are not yet supported.
You can perform the following to test translation functionality in FSM:
-
add translation strings to the FSM translation collection (custcollection_fsm)
-
create your own translation collection for your custom records, fields, and forms
-
reference your custom translations in configuration
For a PDF guide on testing translations in FSM, contact NetSuite Customer Support.
Before working with the multi-language feature in FSM, take note of the following limitations:
-
Different settings in scheduler and mobile – Your NetSuite language preference only affects FSM fields in NetSuite. Dates, times, time zones, and numbers on the scheduler board and mobile app use your browser’s language preference.
-
Transportation layers in maps – Transportation map layers containing labels for roads, highways, railways, shipping routes, and airline routes or flight paths are not supported.
-
Reports, notifications, and scripted strings – Currently, FSM reports, email notifications, and scripted strings are not yet translatable. Scripted strings are text that are generated dynamically using code or logic and are often also used in notification templates.
-
Additional FSM customizations – If you’ve added custom records, lists, or forms to FSM beyond what's included in the SuiteApp, they won’t be automatically translated. You’ll need to provide string translations for your customizations.
To enable the Multi-Language feature:
-
Go to Setup > Company > Setup Tasks > Enable Features.
-
On the Company subtab, in the International section, check the Multi-Language box.
-
Click Save.
Select your language preference for the FSM SuiteApp based on your location or area of operation. Your setting doesn’t affect other NetSuite users in your account. Each user can choose their own preferred language, which will only apply to them.
To select your language preference:
-
Go to Home > Set Preferences.
-
On the General subtab, on the Localization section, select a Language.
-
Click Save.
Dates, times, time zones, and numbers on the scheduler board and mobile app use your browser’s language preference. For more information, see Dates, Times, and Number Formats in the FSM Scheduler Board and Mobile App.
