Installing from Oracle Technical Resources

Before you begin, be sure to review the information in Installing from My Oracle Support or Oracle Technical Resources.

To install Oracle Smart View for Office directly from Oracle Technology Resources (OTR; formerly Oracle Technology Network, OTN):

  1. Go the Oracle Smart View for Office information page on OTR:
  2. On the Oracle Smart View for Office information page, click Download Now.

    This action take you to the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud page.

    If prompted, provide your Oracle login credentials.

  3. On the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud page:
    1. Review the Oracle Gadgets License Agreement, and then select the I reviewed and accept the following license agreements check box.
    2. Select the Oracle Smart View for Office <version> check box.
    3. Under Platforms, you are required to select an option. However, there is only one Smart View executable file for all platforms, so Oracle recommends selecting the All option.
  4. Click Download, and follow the steps for your browser to download and save the file to a folder on your computer; for example, save the file to the Downloads folder.

    An Oracle Software Download Manager EXE file is downloaded to your computer.

  5. Double-click the EXE file to launch the Oracle Download Manager, then perform these steps:
    1. Under Destination click Browse and navigate to a folder for the Smart View download ZIP file, and then click Next.
    2. In the Status window, allow the ZIP file to download, and then click Open Destination to open the ZIP download location in File Explorer.
  6. To start the installation wizard, right-click SmartView.exe and select Run as administrator.

    You may also double-click SmartView.exe to start the installation wizard; however, some configurations may require Run as administrator. Therefore, Oracle recommends using the Run as administrator command to ensure that all functionality is properly enabled and all required Windows Registry entries are set. See Installation and Windows Access Control Settings for more information.

  7. Select a destination folder for Smart View, and then click OK; for new installations, Smart View is installed by default in:

    C:/Oracle/SmartView

    Note:

    If you are upgrading an installation of Smart View, then the installer defaults to the folder where you previously installed Smart View.
  8. When installation is complete, click OK.

    The tab for the Smart View ribbon is displayed the next time you open Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, or Word.
