Installing from My Oracle Support
Before you begin, be sure to review the information in Installing from My Oracle Support or Oracle Technical Resources.
To install Oracle Smart View for Office directly from My Oracle Support (MOS):

- From the previous Knowledge Article, click the link for Available Patch Sets and Patch Set Updates for Oracle Smart View for Office (Doc ID 2220997.1):
- On Available Patch Sets and Patch Set Updates for Oracle Smart View for Office (Doc ID 2220997.1), in the table under Details, click the link for the version of Smart View to download

On the MOS Patch Search page, click the link for the
patch.
This takes you to an MOS page titled in the following format:
Patch <Number>: TRACKING BUG FOR SMART VIEW RELEASE OF <version>

In the patch page, click Download.
A popup window is launched.
Note:
If a popup blocker message prevents you from continuing, follow the steps required for your browser to allow popups to display for the current web address.

In the popup window, click the link for the Smart View download ZIP
file.
The zip file is named in the following format:
p<patch_number>_<smart_view_version>_MSWIN-x86-64.zip
- Follow the steps for your browser to download the ZIP file, and save it to a folder on your computer; for example, save it to the Downloads folder, and then unzip the file to a temporary location.

To start the installation wizard, right-click
SmartView.exe
and select Run as administrator.You may also double-click
SmartView.exe
to start the installation wizard; however, some configurations may require Run as administrator. Therefore, Oracle recommends using the Run as administrator command to ensure that all functionality is properly enabled and all required Windows Registry entries are set. See Installation and Windows Access Control Settings for more information. -
Select a destination folder for Smart View, and then click
OK.
For new installations, Smart View is installed by default in:
C:\Oracle\SmartView
If you are upgrading an existing installation of Smart View, the installer defaults to the folder where Smart View was previously installed.
Note:
Oracle recommends installing in the default location or in a location that does not contain any spaces in the installation path. For example, Oracle advises that you do not install in
C:\Program Files
orC:\Program Files (x86)
. -
When installation is complete, click OK.
The Smart View ribbon is displayed the next time you open Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, or Word.
