Administering Fleet Application Management
The administration tasks in Fleet Application Management include managing product metadata and its related information, properties metadata, custom and Oracle-defined patches, viewing the onboarded version of the service, and opting out from the service.
Fleet Application Management enhances operational efficiency by effectively overseeing the life cycle of supported applications and their associated hosting resources. After onboarding to the service, the next step is to identify the necessary elements for maintaining applications, such as the products, types of environments, patch types, credentials, and product compliance requirements. This assessment is only needed if Fleet Application Management doesn't include these elements.
Also, properties help in labeling and identifying departments or service organizations that need to be supported.
All the elements mentioned form the foundation for actions within the Fleet Application Management. The values associated with these elements become accessible in their respective sections. For example, newly created products are accessible during the Fleet and Runbook creation phases, enabling the initiation of maintenance based on your directives. Similarly, Fleet Application Management assigns properties to a fleet based on their specific types.
To include the elements, the Administration page requires the Fleet Application Management administrator to understand, configure, and provide the following information:
- Metadata management: Manage the attributes of the applications hosted on various resources, which establishes the criteria for the execution of lifecycle management activities. Provide and manage the required metadata information for the Oracle-defined and custom products.
- Properties: Define the necessary global platform configuration properties and any extra properties that can be used as fleet classifiers if needed.
- Patches: Manage software patches to enhance and fix vulnerabilities of products in Fleet Application Management.
- Settings: View the onboarded version of Fleet Application Management, set the frequency of automatic software discovery for fleets, and an option to opt out of the service.
