Per-resource Routing
- Services: Compute
- Release Date: February 07, 2025
OCI now supports Per-resource Routing, which lets you associate a VNIC or an IP address on a VNIC with a custom route table. With this new capability, you have more granular control of how to route traffic originated by Compute instances within a VCN. Until now, the best granularity available was associating a VCN route table with a subnet to control how traffic originating from that subnet is routed to its destination. When a VNIC or an IP address on a VNIC is associated with a custom route table, that custom route table defines how traffic originating from the VNIC or the IP address is routed, creating more flexible traffic routing control in OCI virtual networks.
See Associating a Route Table with a VNIC or VNIC IP addresses for more information on how routing decisions get made when using this feature.
