Add a Volume Group to a Disaster Recovery Protection Group

Learn how to add a volume group to a Disaster Recovery (DR) Protection Group.

  1. From the Resource Type menu, select Volume Group.
  2. Select the volume group to add from the list of volume groups.
  3. Select the Destination backup policy in your compartment
    Note

    This volume group backup policy must already exist in the destination region, and it will be configured for this volume group after it moves to the destination region during DR.
  4. Select any one of the following options on how to manage encryption keys for the boot and block volumes contained in this volume group:
    • Do not update encryption keys for block volumes:

      If you select this option, no customer managed encryption keys will be applied to any boot and block volumes created in the destination region during DR.

    • Use common encryption keys for all block volumes:

      If you select this option, a common customer managed encryption key that you provide will be applied to all boot and block volumes created in the destination region during DR.

    • Customize block volume encryption keys:

      If you select this option, you must provide the customer managed encryption keys for each boot and block volumes created in the destination region during DR.

  5. If you select the Use common encryption keys for all block volumes option, then the following options are available:
    • Select the Destination vault in your compartment.
    • Select the Destination encryption key in your compartment.
  6. If you select the Customize block volume encryption keys option, then the following options are available:
    • Select the Volume from the list.
    • Select the Destination vault in your compartment.
    • Select the Destination encryption key in your compartment
    • Add + Another encryption key to add another encryption key.
  7. If prompted, accept the warning that adding or removing members requires you to refresh and verify all the existing plans in the protection group.
    Note

    Ensure to add the resources only to the primary DR Protection group.
  8. Click Add to add the volume group to the DR Protection Group.
