Join an Active Directory Domain

For system environments where Active Directory authentication is already set up, Cockpit administrators can use the Overview page in the web console to join an existing Active Directory domain service.

Note:

The Join a domain process is similar to using the

realm
          join

command from the command line. More information is available on the realm(8) manual page.

What Do You Need?

The Cockpit web console must be installed and accessible.
For details, see these topics: Install and Enable Cockpit and Log in to the Cockpit Web Console.
An Active Directory service must already be set up and running on the server instance.
Administrator privileges.

Steps

Using the Cockpit web console, follow these steps to join the host system to an existing Active Directory domain service.

In the Cockpit navigation pane, click Overview.
In the Overview page, navigate to the Configuration panel, find the Domain property, and then click Join domain.
The Join a domain dialog appears.
In the Join a domain dialog, perform the following:
1. Enter the Domain address, Domain administrator, and the Domain administrator password.
2. Click Join.
