Oracle JET
Documentation updates for this release of Oracle JET.
-
New Core Pack components
The following Core Pack components are now available:
oj-c-switch, the Core Pack replacement foroj-switch.oj-c-input-search, including support for List View and tabular collection templates.oj-c-sort-control, for rendering the JET sort affordance in sortable table-header templates.oj-c-table-display, a display-only, accessible table component.oj-c-train, the Core Pack replacement foroj-train.
See the API documentation and the migration sections for the corresponding legacy components when moving an application to a Core Pack component.
-
Context-menu clickthrough
Legacy JET and Core Pack components that support context menus now recognize the
data-oj-alt-clickthroughattribute on child elements. Set it to"enabled"to allow a containing component's context menu to open when an interactive descendant would otherwise veto it, or to"disabled"to prevent containing JET components from opening their context menus for that gesture. If both values occur between the gesture target and the owning component root,"disabled"takes precedence. -
oj-c-select-multipleadd-to-list actionoj-c-select-multiplecan display a link in its dropdown that launches application UI to add an item. Configureadd-to-listand listen for theojAddToListActionevent. -
Core Pack chart support
oj-c/chart-utilsis available for working with Core Pack chart data.oj-c-line-chartandoj-c-area-chartsupport the related chart APIs.oj-c-picto-chartandoj-c-picto-chart-itemadd support for item drilling, annotations, patterns, and richer datatip content. -
Core Pack validation utilities
The
oj-c/validation-utilsmodule is available for use with Core Pack form controls. -
List View keyboard navigation
oj-c-list-viewimproves keyboard focus and navigation while content loads, when no data is available, and when invoking an item action. The changes make list item and row navigation more predictable for keyboard users. -
oj-c-progress-buttonloading behavioroj-c-progress-buttonupdates its loading behavior so that the component remains accessible and its busy state is communicated consistently while an action is in progress. -
Select Single user assistance
oj-select-singlenow displayshelp.instruction,help-hints.definition, andhelp-hints.sourcein a dropdown that opens below the field and in the mobile fullscreen dropdown. If the dropdown opens above the field, the user assistance remains below the focused field. -
Accessibility improvements
This release includes accessibility improvements for
oj-slider,oj-range-slider,oj-color-palette, andoj-color-spectrum.
Migration Information
Note the following changes when you migrate an application to Release 21.0.0.
-
Alta theme assets removed
JET 21.0.0 no longer ships Alta CSS, SCSS, demo-theme, or Sass Theme Builder assets. Applications that load paths such as
css/alta,css/alta-android,css/alta-ios, orcss/alta-windowsmust migrate to Redwood or to a Stable-based custom theme. Requests for removed Alta assets return404. -
Offline Persistence Toolkit removed
The Offline Persistence Toolkit is no longer included in the Oracle JET distribution. Applications that import
persist/*modules must provide their own copy of the toolkit or migrate away from those modules. Custom component projects that retain a separately supplied toolkit must configureadditionalPaths: ["persist"]for thejetwc-require-pathsaudit rule. -
oj.OAuthremovedThe
oj.OAuthhelper class has been removed. Applications that use it must implement an appropriate replacement for their OAuth integration. -
Legacy component deprecations
oj-action-card,oj-refresher,oj-swipe-actions,oj-diagram,oj-picto-chart,oj-switch, andoj-trainare deprecated. Use the corresponding Core Pack component where one is available. Desktop support foroj-refresherandoj-swipe-actionsis also deprecated. -
oj-focus-highlightstyle class deprecationsThe
oj-focus-highlightstyle class is deprecated onoj-button,oj-dialog,oj-label,oj-list-view,oj-navigation-list,oj-popup,oj-slider, andoj-switch. Applications should use the supported component styling and focus behavior instead of applying this class. -
Content Security Policy expression evaluation
JET now uses the strict Content Security Policy expression evaluator by default. Applications that rely on expression features that require dynamic code evaluation must update their expressions or explicitly configure an appropriate evaluator. Review and test application CSP settings after upgrading.
-
HTML rendering in legacy form controls
Formatted HTML supplied to legacy JET form components is handled more strictly. Review applications that supply HTML in labels, help, messages, or other form-control content and use the supported template or DOM APIs when richer content is required.
-
URL and module path validation
JET validates URLs used by links, message sounds, and DVT tooltip strings more strictly. Unsafe URL protocols are rejected or omitted.
ModuleElementUtils,ModuleRouterAdapter, and legacyojModulenow validate module names and paths before loading view or view-model resources. Applications that derive module names from URLs, use broad regular-expression routes, or use unsupported RequireJS aliases must map them to explicit, safe logical module names. -
FilterFactory filtering
FilterFactorynow limits text-filter length and handles attribute string and multi-field object filters more strictly. Applications that create filters from unbounded user input should validate the input and verify expected filtering behavior after upgrading.
Tooling/Library Changes
-
jQuery and jQuery UI
JET now uses jQuery
4.0.0and jQuery UI1.14.2. JET components do not require application changes solely because of this update, but applications that use jQuery directly should test their code and review the jQuery 4.0 upgrade guide. -
Knockout
JET now uses Knockout
3.5.3. The update includes Trusted Types support and TypeScript definition updates. TypeScript applications may need source updates for changes involving read-only and writable computed observables, computed or subscribable call signatures, andko.applyBindingsroot-node nullability. -
Oracle JET CLI
The CLI uses
adm-zip0.6.0for ZIP processing and no longer includes the unusedextract-zipdependency in generated templates. Webpack-enabled projects use Webpack5.101.0. The deprecatedsvgoption forojet buildandojet servehas been removed; configure SVG sprite optimization through theme assets or hook-configuredsvgSpriteoptions instead.Requests to use the removed Alta theme now fail with a clear error. Generated test and migration fixtures use current theme CSS paths.
