3 Migrating to Oracle Analytics Server
This topic explains how to migrate from Oracle Business Intelligence 12c and 11g systems or a previous release of Oracle Analytics Server to the latest release of Oracle Analytics Server.
- About the Migration Process
During migration, you migrate your metadata and configuration of the Oracle Business Intelligence components that you have installed on your system. Migration is a two-step process. In the first step, you create an export bundle from a previous release of Oracle Analytics Server or Oracle Business Intelligence release (11.1.1.9.0 or later). In the second step, you import the export bundle in to the latest Oracle Analytics Server system. - Migration Prerequisites
Ensure that you configure the environment as per Oracle recommendations in readiness for the migration. - Installing the Product Distributions
Before you begin your upgrade, download Oracle Fusion Middleware infrastructure 12.2.1.4 and Oracle Analytics Server distributions on the target system and install them by using Oracle Universal Installer. - Creating the Required Oracle Analytics Server Schemas
When upgrading, you must create the required schemas. You can use the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) to create customized schemas or, optionally, you can use the Upgrade Assistant to create schemas using the default schema settings. This procedure describes how to create schemas using the RCU. Information about using the Upgrade Assistant to create schemas is covered in the upgrade procedures. - Configuring Oracle Analytics Server Domain with the Configuration Assistant
The Configuration Assistant is a.sh
(Linux) or a.cmd
(Windows) file. Start the Configuration Assistant by starting the configuration executable file from thebi/bin
directory inside the Oracle home. Follow the procedure in this topic to complete the configuration step-by-step. - Stopping Servers and Processes
Before you migrate your Oracle Business Intelligence metadata and configuration to Oracle Analytics Server, stop the Oracle Analytics Server instance, OBIS1, OBIPS1, Administration Servers, Managed Servers, and the Node Manager. - Migrating from Oracle Business Intelligence 12c or the Previous Release of Oracle Analytics Server
If you want to use a new server, or change the operating system, or use a newer version of operating system for Oracle Analytics Server, install Oracle Analytics Server in the new server, and migrate your metadata and configuration from Oracle Business Intelligence 12c or the previous release of Oracle Analytics Server to the latest release of Oracle Analytics Server. - Migrating from Oracle Business Intelligence 11g
Install Oracle Analytics Server in a new server and migrate your metadata and configuration from Oracle Business Intelligence 11g environment to Oracle Analytics Server. - Starting Servers and Processes
After you migrate your Oracle Business Intelligence metadata and configuration to Oracle Analytics Server, start the Oracle Analytics Server instance, OBIS1, OBIPS1, Administration Servers, Managed Servers, and the Node Manager. - Post-Migration Tasks
After migrating the Oracle BI metadata, manually migrate the configuration settings for components such as security for WebLogic and Enterprise Manager, BI Server, and BI Presentation Services.
