7 Predefined rules
As part of the form design, you can configure different predefined rules to trigger based on a given answer. There are two types of predefined rules, depending on the rule behavior: action rules and validation rules.
Note:
For other complex scenarios, not covered by the available predefined rules, your team can create Javascript custom rules. Custom rules are not part of form design and are created by rule designers. For more information see Predefined rules versus custom rules or browse other topics in the Rules Developer Guide.- Access the Rules section
You create and manage predefined rules on the Rules sidepanel for a given question in a form. In that section, you can configure both validation rules or action rules. - Validation Rules
Validation rules allow you to define specific criteria that must be met for a given question. - Action rules
Action rules are a set of predefined rules that result in specific actions. The actions that you can control with action rules include sending notifications, locking a question automatically, creating form associations, and dynamically displaying a question, form, form section, or visit.
