Create questions for medical coding

Create questions that capture the verbatim term, the Route of Administration, and the Indication (the context items). Additionally, create the fields necessary for collecting medical coding dictionary values, known as coding targets.

Note:

Forms used for medical coding purposes, such as Adverse Events, Concomitant Medications, and Medical History, can be either a repeating form or a two-section form. For more information, see Create a repeating form and Create a form with two sections.

Data flow between Oracle Clinical One Platform and Oracle Central Coding

Understanding the data flow between Oracle Clinical One Platform and Oracle Central Coding system is beneficial when designing the forms and questions that store data involved in the integration between the two systems.

  1. Verbatim terms and their associated context item values are retrieved from Oracle Clinical One Platform study forms based on a schedule defined in the Oracle Central Coding system.
  2. Oracle Central Coding uses details defined during the study design and the Oracle Central Coding configuration to attempt to autocode each term. Users of Oracle Central Coding manually code terms that the system does not autocode.
  3. A second schedule, also defined in Oracle Central Coding, returns dictionary data for coded verbatim terms to the coding targets on the relevant form.
  4. After the coding process has been completed, if a user changes or clears the verbatim term or a context value, the coding targets are cleared by Oracle Clinical One Platform rules, and the term is pulled back to Oracle Central Coding so that it can be recoded.
