Withdraw a subject

You can withdraw a subject at any time if the subject is no longer available or eligible to continue in the study, including if they failed screening. The same applies to subjects in a rollover study.

  1. On the Home page, determine where to work. For more information, see Access study modes and pages.
  2. Along the top, make sure Subjects is selected.
  3. Filter your view based on the required criteria. For more information, see Filter subjects in a study.
  4. In the table, locate the subject you want to withdraw.

    Note:

    Except for subjects whose status is Complete, subjects in any other state are eligible for withdrawal.
  5. Select the checkbox to the left of the subject.
  6. From the Manage Subjects drop-down, select Withdraw.
  7. On the Withdraw Subject, from the Reason for Withdrawal drop-down, select a reason for withdrawing the subject from this study.
  8. Verify or update the date specified in the Date of Withdrawal field.
  9. Select the required checkbox that confirms you want to withdraw the subject.
  10. Select Withdraw Subject.
    If the study contains a Withdrawal visit, the visit is opened. The Withdrawal Visit is also displayed on the Next Visits column.
  11. If needed in your study, complete the forms for the subject's Withdrawal Visit, and select Save or Save & Close.
A withdrawn subject appears with the Withdrawn icon (Withdrawn).
