Future dates now raise queries when not allowed

Study designers can configure whether future dates are allowed for Date/Time questions or not. Starting with Oracle Clinical One Platform 25.2, future date validation is now applied through queries instead of error messages that must be resolved to continue.

Previously, Date/Time questions that didn't allow future dates were considered invalid if a future date was entered. If not resolved, these invalid dates would prevent Randomization and Trial Supply Management (RTSM) actions, such as randomization, dispensation, or screening (in case the question is required for any of those events). With this enhancement, a query is now raised on the question instead of triggering errors.

Queries can be addressed by correcting the data, or they can be closed by sponsor users with the appropriate permissions, but they do not impact RTSM events at any time. This allows site users to continue with their processes without interruption.

Already working in a live study?

If there is a Future Date validation open in a study when this feature is introduced, it will remain a validation unless the data is updated. Queries will only be raised if data is updated and submitted for the question after this enhancement is introduced.

This type of future date validation and its change in behavior, do not interfere with other validations such as those configured with predefined designer rules or custom rules. For other enhancements related to validation rules, see Configure predefined validation rules to raise queries.
