Services

Learn about what you may see within Oracle Communications Unified Assurance when you click Services in the main navigation menu.

What is a Service?

A SLM service is a collection of event filters and/or metrics with custom thresholds to monitor an environment and be able to alert when an issue is detected.

The Event SLM Connector uses service hierarchies to determine real-time service impact so that operators know when a service is down and what events are causing it to be down.

The Metric SLM Collector looks at service level criteria, then uses a weighting system to generate overall service availability as a new calculated metric. This information can be displayed on a dashboard, SLM panels, used by a thresholding engine, and displayed on a graph.

The Metric SLM Collector calculates and reports service-level objective and agreement compliance over time. Real-time service status is done by the Event SLM Connector. The two applications are typically used together.

How do I create a Service?

The following interface is used to create a service.

See SLM Examples in Unified Assurance Implementation Guide for an example of creating an SLM Service.
