A. To start logging slow queries without restarting mysql server, execute the following:

At MySQL command prompt, enter set global slow_query_log=1.
Enter set global long_query_time=1 (or whatever you want for query seconds).
To verify the settings for these commands, use the following show variables: %slow% %length% By default, the slow query logs are stored in the directory /var/lib/mysql/index-slow.log.
