Media Cables

This section describes the media signaling interface, fiber optic and copper cables used on the Acme Packet 4900 network interfaces. Each transceiver type — multi mode and single mode — take a different fiber optic cable. You must use the proper fiber optic cable for each transceiver. Cables may be ordered from Oracle, or you may get them elsewhere.

Cable Information

Three different fiber optic cables used on the Acme Packet 4900 include:
  • Multi-mode transceivers — use an orange fiber optic cable.
  • Single-mode transceivers — use a yellow fiber optic cable.
  • Copper transceiver — use a Cat 5 or 6 ethernet cable.
